Everything, side by side
Read top to bottom: what the river is doing, whether it is safe and legal to fish, then what RiverFinn works out on top.
How is this river right now?
The whole of this is free, on every water RiverFinn covers.
No selection, no preview, no locked rivers.
The number, the word and the plain-English reasons behind it.
Latest CFS from the gauge on the reach, and its direction over six hours.
About two thirds of reaches have one. The rest say so rather than modelling a number.
The National Weather Service forecast for the reach itself.
Seven days of measured water temperature, and the recent condition record.
One tap to verified coordinates in Apple Maps or Google Maps.
The station, when it observed, when RiverFinn last checked, and a link.
Is it safe and legal to fish?
Never part of a subscription. Every account, always.
Read from the state agency, in the agency's own words, with its link.
A measured reading at or above it stops the recommendation, whatever else reads well.
When a thermometer goes quiet after a reading that high, RiverFinn holds the warning rather than withdrawing it.
Gear, seasons and designations, with a link to confirm with the agency.
Closures, advisories, Michigan rule changes and warm-water warnings, on the rivers you save.
Where should I fish, when should I go, and how?
What RiverFinn works out on top of the readings.
The hours of the day the forecast and the agency's restrictions favour. Worked out on the server, never written by a model.
Today's conditions turned into what to tie on and how to fish it.
Every factor, its threshold and the rule behind it — the workings under the rating.
Your saved waters compared and ranked for the days ahead.
A day, a water and the hours, on a calendar beside your own events, watched for change.
Ask Finn
RiverFinn's own data, read back in plain words.
Not just the ones you saved.
Counted from answers you actually received; a provider outage never costs you one.
Two rivers in one question, and a ranking of what is close to you.
What watches while you are away
Safety notifications are in the group above, and are free.
The list your notifications, weekend and Finn all start from.
Conditions improving, flow on the move, a station going quiet, your weekend ranking.
Up to four rules on each river, tuned to the numbers you care about.
What stays free, always
Every closure, every agency advisory and every warm-water warning RiverFinn issues is shown to every account, and sent as a notification to every account. Nobody needs Pro to find out a reach is closed or that the water is too warm to fish. Pro is what RiverFinn works out on top of the readings: the best time to go, what to tie on, which of your waters to pick, and the alerts that watch on your behalf.
Safety notifications reach you on the waters you save — 3 of them on the free plan, as many as you like on Pro.
RiverFinn shows what it can read from the managing agency and links to the official source. It is a planning aid, not the agency: always confirm current regulations before you fish.
Questions about paying
Is the free plan a trial? +
No. It has no time limit and asks for no card. Free is the whole of "how is this river right now?" on every water RiverFinn covers, for as long as you use the app.
Do I need Pro to see closures or warm-water warnings? +
No, and you never will. Closures, agency advisories, regulation changes and warm-water warnings reach every account, in the app and as notifications. Safety is not something RiverFinn sells.
What happens if my subscription lapses? +
Access continues to the end of the period you paid for, and briefly after that so a late renewal never locks you out. Then the Pro features close. Nothing is deleted: your saved waters stay, and any alert rules you wrote are kept and simply stop firing until Pro is active again.
How do I cancel? +
From your device's subscription settings — Apple or Google handles billing, renewals and refunds under their terms. RiverFinn never sees a card number.
Monthly or annual? +
Both, where the store offers them. The price and the currency come from the App Store or Google Play, so what you see in the app is what you pay.
Try it on your rivers first.
Free is the whole conditions product, on every water. Upgrade in the app when you want RiverFinn to work out the timing, the flies and the ranking.
