Ask Finn

A guide who only answers from the data.

Finn is RiverFinn's fly-fishing guide, and it reads one thing: RiverFinn's own river data. Ask about any water RiverFinn covers and Finn reads today's flow, the trend, the temperature if there is one, the forecast, any closure and the rules for the stretch — then answers in plain words, with the stations and times behind it.

When something is not measured, Finn says so. Finn never quotes a water temperature the river does not have, never invents a hatch, and never talks past a closure. The server checks every answer against RiverFinn's own facts before you see it, and replaces a wrong number rather than letting it stand.

RiverFinn Pro

Grounded in RiverFinn's data

Finn reads the same gauge readings, forecasts, closures and rules the app shows you, with their observation times — and nothing else. It is not a chatbot with an opinion about rivers: it has no knowledge of a water RiverFinn does not carry, and says so rather than guessing.

Honest about gaps

No thermometer on the reach? Finn tells you, and reasons from what is measured instead of filling the gap. A closure or a warm-water warning is said first, before anything about the fishing.

Checked before you see it

Every answer is tested against RiverFinn's own facts: a flow or temperature that is not in the data is replaced, a missed closure is put back, and a word the product does not use with anglers is removed. Finn gets one chance to correct itself, then the server answers with the facts.

Free, with a daily allowance

Every angler can ask Finn 5 questions a day, about any water RiverFinn covers — not just the ones you saved. Only answers you actually received are counted; a provider outage never costs you one.

RiverFinn Pro removes the daily limit and opens the questions Finn cannot answer on the free plan: comparing two rivers in one question, ranking the RiverFinn waters near you, and planning a day — the best hours, the flies and the technique.
